Central deficit in psychotic disorders is the disordered processing of cognitive tasks that results in impaired cognition that underlie the manifest symptoms and functional consequences such as poor social functions. Often neurobiology, discerned using fMRI data, often provide clues based on averaging over relatively long periods of time that does not inform functional neural circuits that dynamically change over several milliseconds. Characterizing the pattern of such dynamic changes in circuitry can provide useful markers for a better mechanistic understanding of the disease process, develop treatments, and track the treatment response. They are also used for improving diagnostic accuracy, clinical decision making, and identification of circuitry important at individual level. We use advanced statistical and mathematical modeling techniques to elucidate the above. Current interests are understanding the dynamics of multiplex neural circuitry using state-space model, latent state model, and AI-based predictive modeling. Another interest is to understand the resilience of neural circuitry as a basis of treatment response and clinical outcomes in person with psychotic disorders. The latter two are currently supported by federal grants. Ongoing developments are to leverage these findings to herald interventional neuroscience as a clinical and research discipline.
